Thank you, God, for an amazing afternoon/evening at Tilden Regional Park today. Something about nature just uplifts my soul—taking the time to enjoy and marvel at the beauty and wonder of God’s creations, knowing that even though He created all of it down to every last detail, He still knows the number of hairs on my head and that He loves me unconditionally never fails to bring me to tears of joy, even on the crappiest of days.
Not that today was a particularly crappy day—but I woke up feeling particularly irritable, and sure enough, literally EVERYTHING annoyed me, from realizing that I was out of cereal to waiting in line for half an hour for a carwash to being unable to parallel park because of a driver who insisted on riding my tail and blocking the parking spot. But despite all of these problems, God reminded me that at one point or another, the world will fail us, but He is good, and being a perfect God, He never fails.
As I spent time with the Lord, it was as if God were telling me “Look at these mountains—I created them; and this lake and these ducks—I created them, too. And you, my dearly beloved, I created you, too. But you, my child, I love more than all of these, for I have created you in my image. I will always hold you in my embrace, and I will never let you go. What more do you need?” Lord, you are all I need. I want to fall more and more in love with you everyday. I want to be overwhelmed by your love and grace and glory everyday. Teach me to constantly press on towards the goal. It is by your grace that I have been given a new life, and my heart sings with joy.
